Xiaomi, a leading name in the smartphone market, is reportedly making a significant change to its T-series launch schedule. The upcoming Xiaomi 17T series is now expected to arrive much earlier than anticipated, breaking a long-standing tradition for the company.
Xiaomi 17T Series: A Major Shift in Release Schedule
For years, Xiaomi has consistently unveiled its T-series models in September. However, a strong new leak from China suggests this tradition will be broken in 2026. According to the reports, the company plans to launch the new Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro models four months ahead of schedule, likely around May. This move would represent a major restructuring of the company’s annual product release calendar.
Furthermore, technical details about these new devices are beginning to emerge. The latest information indicates the Xiaomi 17T is being developed under the model number “2602DPT53G,” while the high-end 17T Pro will have the model number “2602EPTC0G.” The leaks also reveal internal codenames: the 17T is referred to as “Chagall,” and the flagship 17T Pro is known as “Warhol.”
Conflicting Rumors and Hardware Details
When it comes to the processors, various sources offer different claims. The primary leak suggests the standard 17T model will be powered by the Dimensity 8500 chipset. In contrast, the top-tier 17T Pro is expected to feature the more powerful Dimensity 9500 processor. Additionally, it is mentioned that the battery capacity of the new phones will be significantly larger than that of the 15T and 15T Pro models. However, camera upgrades are expected to be more limited, with no major innovations anticipated.
An older, conflicting leak presented a different set of hardware details. According to that source, the 17T would retain the exact same camera hardware as the 15T but would feature a massive 6,500 mAh battery with 67W fast charging. Interestingly, that same report claimed the device would use a Dimensity 9400 processor instead of the Dimensity 8500. These discrepancies between sources indicate that it is still too early to be certain about the final specifications.
